I’m a Glasgow based Playwright and Theatre Maker.
My passion for theatre is rooted in liveness, whether in a theatre, a Swimming Pool, a Castle or a Climbing Arena. It is a space for us to share an experience, to hear a story and hopefully offer us the chance to look again at the world we live in.
I’m an associate of the award winning Analogue. The work we make - I think - is deeply collaborative, investigative and playful and I’m proud to be a part of the company.
I was Imaginate Associate Artist from 2010 to 2012 where I spent time making work with young Deafblind people and their families; drawing on my long term interest in non - formal language. I continue to explore co - created communication, interactions based on a spontaneous and unique connection for the people involved in that moment. This work is ongoing and informs the way I write, the way I direct and the way I teach.
My work is always grounded in research and investigation. I want to take complicated material and make it stimulating and accessible. I want to take ideas and theories and weave them into personal human stories. I want to experiment and play with form but make theatre that is engaging and inclusive.
I’ve been lucky enough to work for companies including Visible Fictions, Grid Iron, A Moment’s Peace, Traverse Theatre, Royal Conservatoire Scotland, National Theatre of Scotland, Lyra Theatre, New Wolsey Theatre Ipswich and Random Accomplice.
My work has been performed extensively across the UK from the South Bank Centre in London to the Lowry in Manchester to the Garrison Theatre in Shetland. And beyond that in Germany, Switzerland, Malta, Dubai, United States and Japan.
